The 'Dark Knight Knight Rises' helmer claims that if he finally decides to direct a 007 film, 'it would have to be the right situation and the right time in their cycle of things.'

AceShowbiz - After directing the Batman trilogy, Christopher Nolan could jump into helming the James Bond film franchise. Admitting that the 007 movie series has inspired some of his movies, including "Batman Begins" and "Inception", Nolan opened up that he's "serious" about the possibility of him directing a Bond movie in the future.

Speaking to Empire magazine, the British filmmaker shared that a few years ago, he had expressed interest to helm the Ian Fleming franchise. The 41-year-old director said that he's serious about the prospect and had even met the franchise's producers in the past.

Nolan stated that there's still a possibility for him to helm a 007 film in the future, but he has to make sure that it will happen in the right time. "It would have to be the right situation and the right time in their cycle of things," the older brother of screenwriter Jonathan Nolan claimed.

The latest installment of James Bond film franchise, "Skyfall", is due to open wide in the United States on November 9. Sam Mendes tackles the directorial duty with Daniel Craig returning as the flamboyant secret agent for the third time after "Casino Royale" and "Quantum of Solace".

Aside from talking about his wish to direct a Bond movie, Nolan offered an update on his long-gestating Howard Hughes biopic. In 2011, it was reported that he was using Michael Drosnin's "Citizen Hughes: The Power, the Money and the Madness" as a source to develop the project, which was said to kick off filming sometime this year for a 2014 release. However, Nolan now confirmed that the gig has already been shut down.

Though his passion project has been off the table, Nolan said that he was glad to replace it with the Batman franchise. "Luckily I managed to find another wealthy, quirky character who's orphaned at a young age," he joked.
