MTV Movie Awards 2012: Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence Are Best Actor and Actress

'The Hunger Games' duo Hutcherson and Lawrence grab the Best Male and Female Performance awards respectively, while 'Project X' wins the 'Instant Cult Classic' prize.

AceShowbiz - More winners at the 2012 MTV Moview Awards have been revealed. One of Movie of the Year contenders, "The Hunger Games", has claimed its first Golden Popcorn as Josh Hutcherson won the Best Male Performance award thanks to his role as baker son Peeta Mellark in the Gary Ross-directed movie.

Hutcherson received the award from "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" co-stars Emma Watson, Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller. Beating such actors as Daniel Radcliffe, Ryan Gosling, Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Hutcherson gushed that he's been wishing to hold a Golden Popcorn since he was 4 years old. He additionally thanked director Ross and his fans during his speech.

While Hutcherson claimed the Best Male Performance, his "Hunger Games" co-star Jennifer Lawrence took home the Best Female Performance gong. Presenting her prize was Chris Hemsworth and his "Snow White and the Huntsman" co-star Kristen Stewart.

Later, Charlie Sheen took on the stage to introduce the "Instant Cult Classic" award, which went to "Project X". Upon presenting the prize, Sheen said, "My life has been a party movie."

More winners are about to be revealed at the ongoing Academy Awards that is held at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City. Serving as the host is Russell Brand.
