Adam Lambert is telling people to break out of their dull routine through a music video for his new single, "Never Close Our Eyes". In the newly-released clip, the season 8 runner-up of "American Idol" finds himself trapped inside a facility where everybody completes the same tasks, but manages to lead a revolt and escape the complex.
The 30-year-old singer has earlier stated that the breaking free part of the video comes from his interpretation of the song's lyrics. In a previously-released behind-the-scenes clip, he stated, "I interpret that as we're keeping our eyes wide open. Stay open to all possibilities, keep an open mind and an open heart to life."
As for the sci-fi concept, Lambert explained, "The one thing that I was really excited about was maybe something sort of science fiction. Something kind of New World Order, in the future. Something not of this reality. When we put that out there, a gentleman called Dori Oskowitz came back with an amazing treatment. This director is a really cool guy, totally on the same page as me."
"Never Close Our Eyes" is the latest single from Lambert's sophomore album, "Trespassing", that has debuted atop Billboard Hot 200, making the singer the first openly gay male artist to score the first spot on the chart. The tune itself is penned by Bruno Mars, and produced by Dr. Luke and Cirkut.
