Joined by co-stars John Cusack and Matthew McConaughey, Efron and Kidman stole the spotlight at the special screening event for the Lee Daniels-directed thriller.

AceShowbiz - Another anticipated movie has been premiered at the 65th annual Cannes Film Festival. On Thursday, May 24, Lee Daniels' "The Paperboy" held its special screening session which was attended by a host of A-list celebrities. Stealing the limelight at the formal event were the film's leading actor Zac Efron and his beautiful co-star Nicole Kidman.

Efron looked sleek in Dolce&Gabbana three-piece black suit completed with a bowtie. While attending a press call before the premiere, the actor gushed that he's very honored to star opposite Oscar winner Kidman in the movie. "I had the most lovely time in the world [working with Kidman]," he told reporters. "I was ecstatic the day I found out she was playing the part."

Nicole herself oozed her inner goddess persona for the special screening event. The "Moulin Rouge!" actress donned a pink backless gown and a miniaudiere designed by Lanvin. To finish off her flawless look, the actress arranged her blond hair into an elegant chignon and wore vintage jewelry from Cartier.

"Paperboy" co-stars who joined Efron and Kidman on the red carpet included John Cusack, Matthew McConaughey and David Oyelowo who looked dapper in their traditional two-piece black suit each. Director Daniels was also on hand to support the premiere.

As for the celebrity guests, there were singer Macy Gray, supermodel Heidi Klum as well as actors Antonio Banderas and Cuba Gooding Jr. among others. Gray stole the attention with her eye-catchy fake eyelash to team her sequined golden dress, while Klum glammed up in a pastel-colored backless gown.

Based on Pete Dexter's critically acclaimed novel, "The Paperboy" follows two brothers (Efron and McConaughey) investigating a case involving a death row inmate (Cusack). Convinced by a mysterious woman (Kidman) that the inmate is innocent, the brothers embark on a journey that is filled with betrayal.

The thriller will hit theaters across the U.S. on November 23.
