'Community' Creator Dan Harmon Reveals He's Fired

Also, unlike what NBC's head Paul Greenblatt said, Harmon will not be involved in fourth season in some capacity unless he has a big say on the show's direction.

AceShowbiz - Not long after it was announced that Dan Harmon has been replaced by David Guarascio and Moses Port as showrunners on "Community", the sitcom's creator revealed that he was actually fired. Via Tumblr post on Saturday, May 19, Harmon said the producers have not even given him a call.

"Why'd Sony want me gone? I can't answer that because I've been in as much contact with them as you have," Harmon wrote to fans. "They literally haven't called me since the season four pickup, so their reasons for replacing me are clearly none of my business."

Harmon wanted his devotees to know that he did not quit on the low-rated show. "Do not believe anyone that tells you on Monday that I quit or diminished my role so I could spend more time with my loved ones, or that I negotiated and we couldn't come to an agreement, etc. It couldn't be less true because, just to make this clear, literally nobody called me," he said.

Harmon and Sony Pictures Television, the studio that produces "Community", have been at odds since the first season of the show. "Dan is a brilliant at ideas, but he's terrible at [management]," a source told Vulture. NBC's decision to not call Harmon after they pick up the fourth season also shows sign that they were reluctant to involve him in the show's direction and future.

In his post, Harmon ripped NBC head Bob Greenblatt for saying as if Harmon would still be involved on the show in some capacity. "That's a misquote. I think he meant to say he's sure cookies are yummy, because he's never called me once in the entire duration of his employment at NBC," he said.

He later added, "I'm not saying you can't make a good version of 'Community' without me, but I am definitely saying that you can't make my version of it unless I have the option of saying 'it has to be like this or I quit' roughly 8 times a day."
