AceShowbiz - The first wave of 2012 Teen Choice Awards nominations have just been announced. In music category, Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Justin Bieber lead the pack with multiple nods. Swift receives four noms, Riri follows with three, and Bieber trails behind the ladies with two.
Pitbull also grabs four noms, Drake, Blake Shelton and Fun. match Riri by getting three, while the likes of Bruno Mars, Adele, Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, Beyonce Knowles, Nicki Minaj, Selena Gomez and Flo Rida nab two each.
Swift is up for Choice Female Artist against Adele, J.Lo, Perry and Riri. Her song "Eyes Open" which was recorded for "The Hunger Games" is nominated for Choice Single by a Female Artist. She once again faces off Adele, J.Lo, Perry, in addition to competing against Kelly Clarkson.
Her third nod is Choice Female Country Artist. To win the title, she has to battle Lauren Alaina, Miranda Lambert, Kellie Pickler and Carrie Underwood. She seals her domination in music by vying for Choice Country Song, thanks to her single "Sparks Fly".
Riri gets her two other nods for her collaboration with Drizzy in his single "Take Care", which is nominated for Choice Single by a Male Artist and Choice R&B/Hip-Hop Song. The Canadian rapper himself rounds up his three nominations by competing for Choice Male Artist.
Bieber bumps into Drizzy in both of the categories he's nominated for. The pop singer meets the Young Money rhymer in the Choice Male Artist along with Mars, Pitbull and Shelton. The two are pitted againts each other once again in the Choice Single by a Male Artist.
In addition to the existing categories, there is a new field added to music in order to honor disc jokeys and more hardcore dance acts. It's Choice Electronic Dance Music (EDM) Artist, and it includes DeadMau5, David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Kaskade and Skrillex as contenders.
Continuing its tradition to celebrate the hottest icons in television, music, film, sport, fashion, comedy and the web, 2012 Teen Choice Awards will announce its winners in a star-studded two-hour show which will air live on Sunday, July 22 at 8.00 P.M./E.T. live/P.T. tape-delayed on FOX.
Fans between the ages of 13-19 can determine the winners by voting once each day per category on Teen Choice Awards official site. Host(s), presenters, performers and additional nominees will be announced soon.
