Matthew McConaughey Offers Updates and Details for 'Lincoln Lawyer 2'

The Rick Peck of 'Tropic Thunder' says that the script for the sequel to the 2011 critically acclaimed thriller is being finalizing and will be based on two Michael Connelly's books.

AceShowbiz - A sequel to critically-acclaimed thriller "The Lincoln Lawyer" is getting fast tracked. Its lead actor Matthew McConaughey has confirmed that the script for the follow-up movie is currently being finalized. He also revealed that the story will be based on not just one but two famous books by Michael Connelly.

Discussing the sequel with Total magazine, McConaughey said, "Wouldn't you think that the sequel would be getting written right now for me to do the next one? [McConaughey's character, Mickey Haller, appears in four novels]. I'm like, 'Hurry up, everybody!' " He explained, "It is getting written right now but it should be on more of a fast track. Let's get this on, man."

As for the plot details, the Texan teased, "It's actually a mix of two. I won't reveal what those are, but it's a mix of two." He added, "I got good reviews on The Lincoln Lawyer. There's a lot of times that critics have written the review before they've seen the frickin' movie. They've written the review on me before they've seen it - maybe the critic doesn't like me."

Speaking about the 2011 critics' darling thriller, McConaughey claimed that the he didn't see the movie as a way to prove his comeback. "It didn't feel like a big return or revolution," he stated. "I mean, I understand how it could have been perceived as that, and that movie got well reviewed."

Directed by Brad Furman, "Lincoln Lawyer" grossed $85.5 million domestically. The movie scored an 83|percent| "certified fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes. McConaughey himself was also praised as a "charming" lead in its starry cast ensemble.

The 42-year-old actor will soon be seen as the antagonist in Jack Black-starring dramedy "Bernie". His other upcoming movies are "Killer Joe", "Magic Mike" and "Mud".
