Artist of the Week: Don Omar

Hot on heels of his big win at Billboard Latin Music Awards, Omar is rolling out a brand new album called 'Mto 2 (New Generation)'.

is releasing a new studio album "". A follow-up to his 2010 CD "", the effort is filled with good music and is expected to make a notable entry on Billboard Hot 200 in its opening week.

Omar is one of the few reggaeton artists who managed to break top 10 on Hot 200, joining the likes of and . Six years ago, he climbed up to No. 6 with his album "", marking the highest rank in reggaeton history.

The release of his new album was preceded by his big win at Billboard Latin Music Awards, an event that honored Latin musicians having impressive radio and sales chart performance as well as social and streaming activity. The Latin Grammy-nominated artist won a total of eight prizes.

Omar took home 6 gongs in Song of the Year categories including Latin Rhythm Song of the Year, Airplay Song of the Year, Digital Song of the Year and Song of the Year. He additionally grabbed Latin Rhythm Albums Artist of the Year - Solo and the coveted Album of the Year.
