Blink-182 Cancel May Tour Dates Due to Travis Barker's Health Issue

Following their drummer's emergency tonsillectomy, the Mark Hoppus-fronted band scrap a number of North American concerts, including their anticipated show at the Bamboozle Festival.

have scrapped a number of scheduled performances for their North American tour due to the health issue of their drummer . On Tuesday, May 9, the rock band announced the cancellation of all their May 2012 tour dates since Barker required "an urgent tonsillectomy with a recovery period."

Among the canceled performances was Blink's headlining appearance at Asbury Park's Bamboozle Festival. The vacant spot left by the Mark Hoppus-fronted band is now filled by , who are set to perform on May 19 before the take on Bamboozle's main stage.

Weighing in on Blink's cancellation, Bamboozle promoters said in an official statement, "Blink-182 will be greatly missed, and all of us here wish Travis a speedy recovery." Should Blink's performance go on schedule, it will mark their first appearance at the festival.

Bamboozle talent agent Christian McKnight told The Hollywood Reporter, "For the Bamboozle generation, Blink is one of the biggest bands in that genre. Blink is the iconic band a lot of kids grew up on and got a lot of those kids into music."

Blink-182 additionally confirmed that there are some performances that have been rescheduled for September. Their May 10 and 11 gigs at the Winstar Casino in Thackerville are pushed back to September 13 and 14. All previously issued tickets will be honored on the new dates respectively.
