Sacha Baron Cohen and Kurt Russell Bail Out of 'Django Unchained'
Movie

While Baron Cohen leaves the Quentin Tarantino-directed western film due to his busy schedule promoting 'Dictator', Russell's reason of departure is still unclear.

AceShowbiz - Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" loses not just one but two more actors from its starry cast ensemble. After Kevin Costner and Joseph Gordon-Levitt decided to exit the spaghetti western movie, it is now reported that Sacha Baron Cohen and Kurt Russell also bow out of the prestigious project.

Baron Cohen announced his departure in a recent radio interview with Howard Stern. He said, "That was going to be a cameo, but I had to drop out because of ['The Dictator'] press tour." The British funnyman was originally expected to star as Scotty Harmony, "a gambler who buys Django's wife as a female companion."

As for Russell, his withdrawal news was first broken by Variety's Jeff Sneider who posted on Twitter, "First KEVIN COSTNER, and now KURT RUSSELL has EXITED the cast of QT's DJANGO UNCHAINED. No reason given or replacement named..." Russell's representative has yet to comment on the news.

Russell was originally tapped to replace Costner in the movie. He was expected to tackle the part of antagonistic Ace Woody. The character is described as a sadistic trainer of male fighting slaves and of female prostitutes.

The remaining cast members of "Django Unchained" include Jamie Foxx, Kerry Washington, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson and RZA. The picture will be released in the U.S. just in time for Christmas holiday on December 25.

Set in 1800s, "Django Unchained" follows a freed slave who, under the tutelage of a German bounty hunter King Schultz, becomes a bad-ass bounty hunter himself. After assisting Schultz in taking down some bad guys for profit, he tracks down his slave wife and liberates her from an evil plantation owner.
