AceShowbiz - Ridley Scott's "Prometheus" is unlikely to be an all-age movie. Fans have been heavily speculating on what rating the thriller will earn from the MPAA, and the latest report suggested that the highly anticipated movie has scored an R rating.
Though the MPAA has yet to announce the film's official rating, an alleged photo of a pre-sale ticket stub for the IMAX 3D screening of the movie has shown that the sci-fi pic has secured the restricted rating. The photo itself was shared by an IMDb user called dvonnesoneek.
Many fans have been wishing that "Prometheus" will not be rated PG-13 though it has been poised as a summer blockbuster. In Spain, the movie was granted an "18" rating which equals to R rating in the United States.
Director Scott himself recently expressed his hope to secure an R rating for the film. Though admitting that he still doesn't know what rating the MPAA will give to the movie, the English filmmaker said, "Right now I don't know where we are. The question is, do you go for the PG-13, or do you go for what it should be, which is R?"
He went on telling Empire magazine, "Essentially, it's kinda R. The little bastards will still get in anyway, so what's the difference? It's not just about blood, it's about ideas that are very stressful. I'm not an idiot, but I'll do everything I can to get the most aggressive film I can."
Starring Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba and Guy Pearce, "Prometheus" will make its way out onto theaters nationwide on June 8. The official rating for the much awaited movie will likely be announced as soon as mid May.
