AceShowbiz - After reprising his role as Loki in "The Avengers", Tom Hiddleston is gearing up to play the genius supervillain once again in "Thor 2". In anticipation of the sequel movie, the British actor opened up about how he will develop the evil brother of Thor in the second God of Thunder film.
Speaking to MTV News at the closing night of Tribeca Film Festival, Hiddleston stated that he would love to take Loki "to his absolute rock bottom" in "Thor 2". The 31-year-old thesp added, "I'd like to see him yield, essentially, to his darkest instinct. Then, having hit rock bottom, maybe come back up."
Hiddleston also hinted that the God of Mischief might find some redemption and could eventually join forces with the good. He said, "I think the fascination for me about playing Loki is that, in the history of the mythology and the comic books and the Scandinavian myths, is he's constantly dancing on this fault line of the dark side and redemption. I don't know when, but it will be so fun to see him see the light again and be recruited to the good side."
On the other hand, "Thor" lead actor Chris Hemsworth discussed a grittier Asgard for the sequel. Revealing that "Game of Thrones" somehow inspires the follow-up movie, he said, "['Game of Thrones'] had a real mythical element to it, but it was rooted in such an organic and tangible world. I think Asgard could really benefit from that sort of grittier, aged feel to it and not so ethereal."
Hemsworth additionally dished that "Thor 2" will explore a brand new world. "I haven't seen the script yet, but hopefully there are so many other universes out there and realms in the comics that they explored. I think definitely we'll venture into them," the Australian actor stated.
"Thor 2" will be directed by Alan Taylor, whilst the script is provided by Robert Rodat. The anticipated Marvel superhero movie has been scheduled to make its way out to the U.S. theaters on November 15, 2013.
