Producer Feige claims that the Black Widow standalone film will likely happen by stating, 'We have already planned her next appearance and where to take the character.'

AceShowbiz - A standalone film for Black Widow will likely be developed after the heroine appears in "The Avengers". It was producer Kevin Feige himself who confirmed that the gun-wielding female superhero will have her own movie, which has already been planned with Scarlett Johansson returning to tackle the character.

Speaking to Movie Line, Feige claimed that Johansson's performance in "Avengers" has led him to plan a spin-off for Black Widow. "I think people are going to be surprised by how powerful Scarlett is in this movie ['Avengers'], and how evolved her role is," he gushed.

"We have already planned her next appearance and where to take the character because we believe in it and we believe in her in a big, big way," the President of Production of Marvel Studios stated. "When will there be a standalone? Both is what we're heading toward."

Feige, however, didn't confirm when the Black Widow movie will move forward. He explained, "A lot of it is that we're only going to make two movies a year, maybe sometimes it'll be one movie a year like this year, maybe someday it'll be three movies a year just depending on what comes together."

"But really, it's two movies. So there's kind of a backup on the runway right now in terms of when can something go. We do like when some of the characters appear in other people's movies," he continued. "And that's probably where you'll see Black Widow next."

Feige additionally dished on his favorite Black Widow scene in "Avengers", saying it's when "Loki and Widow are having their scene together and Loki's in a cell, and he's trying to rile her up by mentioning things like 'the hospital fire.' Who knows what those things are? We haven't seen any of those things in other movies! What were those things, what do they mean? I love that. I'd love to explore that deeper."

Back in December, Johansson herself revealed that she's interested to have her own Black Widow movie. Speaking to Superhero Hype, she said, "I love playing the Widow. I think she's got a very interesting past, a lot of storyline to explore, and certainly Kevin loves the character."

Hinting that the standalone movie will possibly happen, Johansson said, "I think that Marvel has a very personal relationship with their fans, and I think if the fans want it, and the audience wants it, nothing's impossible."

Johansson will soon be seen as Black Widow along with Chris Evans' Captain America, Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth's Thor, Mark Ruffalo's The Hulk and Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye in "Avengers", which will open wide in the U.S. on May 4.
