The music festivity that kicked off April 27 also sees Tom Petty, Gomez and Chuck Leavell rocking on stage along with a series of local musicians.

AceShowbiz - The 2012 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival was officially opened on Friday, April 27. The likes of The Beach Boys, Bon Iver and Tom Petty took the stages scattered at the Fair Grounds Race Course to cater hundreds of revelers with a lot of good music.
The newly reunited Beach Boys kicked off their set after an intro by actor John Stamos. They delighted the concertgoers with songs from their extensive catalog including "Surfer Girl", "Little Deuce Coup", "Do It Again", "409", "Shut Down" and "I Get Around".
Although their discography was not as extensive as The Beach Boys, Iver didn't fail to get the crowd going with their selection of songs which included the haunting "Holocene". Their frontman Justin Vernon gushed, "There simply isn't a better music festival in the world. The city and the experience we have when we come here - I can't put it into words."
The other performers of the first day of the five-day music festivity included British indie rockers Gomez and keyboardist Chuck Leavell, who has played with The Rolling Stones and The Allman Brothers Band among other legendary bands. Local musicians like Dirty Dozen, Brass Band, Stephanie Jordan, Trombone Shorty and Rebirth brought good vibrations to the event as well.
Also confirmed to come to the gig are Cee-Lo Green, Ne-Yo, Bruce Springsteen and Jimmy Buffett.
