Director Gore Verbinski and lead actor Depp are the ones who come up with the idea to have the 'Love Interruption' singer scoring the action adventure film.

AceShowbiz - Having just released his first solo album "Blunderbuss", Jack White is set to make his first foray into feature film scoring on "The Lone Ranger". The Walt Disney Studios has announced that the former The White Stripes member will write, produce and perform score for the adaptation movie starring Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer.
"Jack's an amazing songwriter with a unique style," producer Jerry Bruckheimer told Variety. "We're thrilled to hear his fresh take on the William Tell Overture." On who proposed the idea to hire White as a scorer, the filmmaker revealed, "Gore [Verbinski - director] hatched the idea and Johnny was thrilled with it. We're all very excited to have him on board."
"Lone Ranger" centers on native American spirit warrior Tonto (Depp) who recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice. It promises to take the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.
The action adventure film is slated to hit theaters across the U.S. on May 31, 2013.
