AceShowbiz - Women dominate this year's nomination list for CMT Music Awards.Carrie Underwood gets the most nod by grabbing five noms, Miranda Lambert trails behind her with four, while Taylor Swift, along with The Civil Wars, Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton and Thompson Square, follows with three.
Underwood lands a double nod in the long list of Video of the Year, thanks to her music video for new single "Good Girl" and her duet with Brad Paisley in "Remind Me". The former clip additionally helps her become a contender for Female Video of the Year, and the latter leads her to join the list of Collaborative Video of the Year.
The 2005 winner of "American Idol" receives her fifth nod in the category of CMT Performance of the Year. Her performance with Steven Tyler at the CMT Crossroads pits her against Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, Shelton, and another CMT Crossroads duo Sting and Vince Gill.
Lambert gets two nods for her solo work and adds two more nominations as a member of Pistol Annies. The wife of Shelton becomes one of Underwood's rivals in Video of the Year and Female Video of the Year through her "Over You" clip. Her group Pistol Annies, meanwhile, are vying for Group Video of the Year and Breakthrough Video of the Year, thanks to "Hell on Heels" clip.
Swift joins the battle for Female Video of the Year with her "Ours" clip. She shares her two other nods with The Civil Wars as their collaboration in "The Hunger Games" soundtrack, "Safe & Sound", is listed in Video of the Year and Collaborative Video of the Year. The Civil Wars additionally grab Duo Video of the Year through their own clip "Poison and Wine".
Country music newbies who join Pistol Annies in the race to win Breakthrough Video of the Year are Brantley Gilbert ("Country Must Be Country Wide"), Thompson Square ("I Got You") and 2011 "Idol" winner Scotty McCreery ("The Trouble With Girls") and its runner-up Lauren Alaina ("Georgia Peaches"). The Male Video of the Year, meanwhile, sees Aldean, Shelton, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Toby Keith and Keith Urban facing off one another to take home the coveted prize.
Some of those nominees have since taken to Twitter to celebrate their nominations. Underwood tweeted, "Thank you @FollowCMT and all the fans for my CMT Award nominations! You guys are awesome!!" Lambert posted, "We got 2 CMT Music Award nominations! Vote for 'Hell On Heels' (and Lone Star Annie too!) :)." Alaina wrote, "(Need to thank the proper CMT!!) Thanks @followCMT for the nomination!!!" and "Thanks. Im honored to be nominated."
Celebrating its 11th anniversary, 2012 CMT Music Awards will air live from Nashville on June 6. Voting to determine winners in all categories has been opened until June 4, except for Video of the Year. The short list for the top honor nominees will be announced at the beginning of the live show, and fans can vote for them throughout the live telecast.
