AceShowbiz - After Ryan Seacrest paid a brief homage to Dick Clark on "American Idol" Wednesday, April 18, the show dedicated a segment to the late television personality in the Thursday episode. The former "Pyramid" host was remembered through a video package that was played before the elimination was announced.
Acknowledging Clark as his mentor, Seacrest narrated the clip montage which mostly compiled footage from his groundbreaking variety show "American Bandstand". One of the scenes featured Janet Jackson thanking him for his contribution to the music industry.
Some moments shared between Clark and Seacrest while hosting "New Year's Rockin' Eve" were also included. "He was a remarkable man and left a rich legacy for audiences around the world," so the "Idol" host described the Daytime Emmy Award winner before concluding, "Dick Clark will be missed."
Following the Clark tribute, LMFAO were called onto the stage to perform their single "Sorry for Party Rocking". Also on the results show, Kris Allen catered the audience with his rendition of "Vision of Love", while Colton Dixon became the latest contestant sent home.
Speaking about the elimination which was quite a shocker since he had never landed on the bottom three before, the 20-year-old singer said, "I thought I was going to be in the bottom three tonight. I wasn't surprised by that, especially standing next to Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez."
Regretting his first song on the performances night, he added, "I thought I had another week, if not a couple more in me, but someone good has got to go home and it was just me this week." He went on admitting his mistake as saying, "I've been trying too hard to get a standing ovation from the judges that I didn't need."
