Trying to explain why such great singer like Jessica Sanchez got the lowest vote on the April 12 show, Randy says, 'What happens...is people forget to vote and they think their favorites are safe.'

AceShowbiz - Though admitting he was shocked by the results on "American Idol" Thursday, April 12, Randy Jackson has noticed that it's something that would happen at least once in every season of the show. Speaking to the press after the "crazy" night, the judge who has joined the reality series since season 1 said, "I think every season it happens every time."

Offering an explanation why greats singers like Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet and Elise Testone could land on the bottom three, Randy shared, "What I think what happens, honestly, is people forget to vote and they think their favorites are safe. I mean you saw that bottom three. Oh my god, it's like 'What's going on?' "

On the other hand, his fellow judge Steven Tyler believed that a song choice plays an important factor in determining the results. "They're all one song away [from elimination], because this is a game show," the rocker gushed. "It's a reality show where America's vote is on if they don't sing [well]. It's because they don't have a good song. It doesn't mean they can't sing. [Jessica] is as good as it gets and she's 16."

Denying that the judges had made a decision on whom they would save before the show went live, Randy said, "We don't know. We find out when you find out." The record producer insisted, "That's why we were shocked tonight. We were literally shocked. We were like 'What?!' I think the save is for moments like these."

Echoing Randy's statement, Steven stated, "When we saw all three, that's why I said, 'We're saving them.' Because this is crazy, which begs the question, Who wouldn't I have on the other side? But we're not going there."

Asked whether the judges would still use their save card if it were Joshua or Elise who got the lowest vote, Randy dodged the question and simply said, "Probably."

On the latest results show, the judges used their "save" privilege to keep Jessica on the singing competition after she got the lowest vote from America. Jennifer Lopez ran onto the stage and snapped the mic from Jessica toward the end of her sing-for-life performance, while Randy shouted, "We are saving Jessica without any doubt," providing a dramatic ending.
