In her first interview since the pop icon died of drowning in February, Cissy Houston insists she raised her famous daughter the best way she knew how, adding, 'I don't blame myself.'

AceShowbiz - After almost two months of silent mourning, Whitney Houston's mother is finally ready to openly talk about the famous singer's tragic death. In an interview with New Jersey-based My9's 10 O'Clock News to air Monday, April 2, Cissy Houston said, "I am a true believer in God, if I could bring her back I would, but that's not possible."

Sharing her heart break, the Grammy-winning gospel singer admitted that she's still dealing with the grief of losing her only daughter. "I have my moments," she told My9's Brenda Blackmon inside New Hope Baptist Church where Whitney's funeral was held. "I'm not there yet. I don't think I'm any more courageous than anyone else."

Still, Cissy is adamant that she's raised Whitney the best way she knew how. "I know I did the best I could. I don't blame myself. I know I did the best I could for everything," insisted the 78-year-old, who also said that she's very proud of her daughter. "[Whitney] accomplished a whole lot in the short time that she had here," she added. "She was a very wonderful person."

During the chat, Cissy also shared her thoughts on the tabloids' coverage surrounding Whitney's death. "They think they know everything," she commented. "These people don't know anything about her. The media doesn't know what they are talking about." She also put to rest one rumor in particular, stressing that "Whitney did not die broke. She's not broke. She's not anything ... None of that crap."

Houston passed away on February 11. She was found underwater and unconscious in bathtub of her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. On March 22, it was announced that she died of accidental drowning with atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use being the contributing factors.

TMZ recently reported that authorities did find cocaine residue in the hotel room where Whitney died. Official police documents noted that "white, powdery remnants" were recovered, but did not specify on the quantity. While it was earlier suggested that someone removed cocaine from the room, the gossip site noted that Beverly Hills detectives are not looking into the rumors.
