The album featuring Taylor Swift and Maroon 5 becomes the first soundtrack compilation by various artists to reach No. 1 after 'The Twilight Saga's New Moon' album.

AceShowbiz - "The Hunger Games" soundtrack album follows the movie's record-breaking performance on box office by debuting high on Billboard Hot 200. Featuring Taylor Swift, Maroon 5 and Arcade Fire among others, the theme song compilation enters the chart at the first position by selling 175,000 copies in its opening week.

The CD becomes the first soundtrack album, after Michael Jackson's "This Is It", which bowed at No. 1 on the weekly rundown. Also, it's the first soundtrack compilation by various artists to ever reach No. 1 since "The Twilight Saga's New Moon" album rose from No. 2 to No. 1 in its second week three years ago.

It additionally should be noted that "The Hunger Games" CD, among all soundtrack albums for movies, TV series or straight-to-video efforts, is only the 16th soundtrack to debut at No. 1 in the history of the Billboard Hot 200.

Aside from the soundtrack album, there are four other new entries on Hot 200 this week. The second-highest chart debut is The Shins who round up the top 3. Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All arrive at No. 5, Melanie Fiona enters at No. 7, and Esperanza Spalding bows at No. 10.

Last week's champ One Direction give up the first spot to occupy the fourth place. After making history with their No. 1 debut ("Up All Night", 176,000 copies), the British boyband now shift only 55,000 units (down 69|percent|).
