The Stephen Holder of 'The Killing' also reveals that in the upcoming Jose Padilha-directed remake movie, he will do the iconic scene where Alex Murphy is brutally mutilated in a different way.

AceShowbiz - For the first time since he was cast as the titular cyborg in Jose Padilha's "RoboCop" reboot, Joel Kinnaman shared some tidbits of the upcoming movie. Speaking to MTV News, the lead actor of "The Killing" TV series revealed that his version of the iconic cop is going to be "a lot more human."
Kinnaman confessed he was very excited to be tapped to play RoboCop. He gushed, "I'm super stoked. Especially with this director. Jose Padilha is a badass. He's the real deal." The actor then explained that Padilha's scientist father played a big role on the director's approach to the forthcoming remake.
"There's a lot of neuroscience now raising the question, 'Is all the intelligence in the human body in the brain?' and they're finding out that, no, it's not like that," said Kinnaman. "The body has intelligence itself, and we're much more of an organic creature in that way. It's not a control tower that does everything."
Comparing the reboot with the original "RoboCop" directed by Paul Verhoven, the Swedish actor said, " 'RoboCop' is going to be a lot more human." He added, "The first movie is one of my favorite movies. I love it. Of course, Verhoeven has that very special tone, and it's not going to have that tone. It's a re-imagination of it."
"There's a lot of stuff from the original," he continued on. "There are some details and throwbacks, but this version is a much better acting piece, for Alex Murphy [the human character of RoboCop] and especially when he is RoboCop. It's much more challenging."
The 32-year-old actor shared that his version of RoboCop will have more human characteristics and will reveal more of his actual face. "It's not going to be jaw action," he explained. "They're still working on the suit and how it's going to look, but the visor is going to be see-through. You're going to see his eyes."
Asked if he will do the iconic scene where Murphy is brutally mutilated with shotguns by crime boss Clarence Boddicker, Kinnaman responded, "Yeah. It's going to be different. But it's very good."
"I was looking to do a big movie and to show that I can carry a big movie, and I couldn't be happier that this is going to be one of those big movies, a blockbuster, but that is also a real movie. A movie-movie," said the thesp. "It's going to have a political satire to it too."
The original "RoboCop" was introduced to Hollywood by director Paul Verhoeven in 1987. The reboot, meanwhile, has Josh Zetumer and Nick Schenk serving as the screenwriter. The sci-fi movie has set an August 9, 2013 release in the U.S.
