PETA on Khloe Kardashian's Withdrawal of Support: She Is Just Defending Her Sister
Celebrity

The animal rights group issues the statement after Khloe announced she's cutting ties with them upon learning that the woman who flour-bombed her sister Kim is an influential activist.

AceShowbiz - PETA apparently understands that blood is thicker than water for Khloe Kardashian. The animal rights organization has issued a statement in response to the "Khloe & Lamar" star's announcement that she will no longer support the group after she learned that it has ties with the woman who flour-bombed her sister Kim Kardashian at recent event.

"We appreciate that Khloe will remain on the animals' side by not wearing fur - that's what counts," Senior Vice President Lisa Lange said. "If one of our volunteers is responsible, it doesn't alter the fact that no animal deserves to be electrocuted, shot, or poisoned for a bit of fur clothing. Khloe is just defending her sister, and we know she has a good heart, so we wish her well. We just wish she also had more influence on her sister."

On Monday, March 26, Khloe posted on her blog that she's severing ties with PETA. She wrote in the beginning, "I just received word that the woman responsible has very close ties to PETA, despite PETA publicly stating otherwise. Not only has PETA lied to the public, but they have proved that they support this kind of behavior."

"I've been a vocal supporter of PETA for a long time but I have also been very vocal about anti-bullying, so this was a huge disappointment for me," the 27-year-old continued. "As you all know, I don't condone violence and bullying and what happened last Thursday was just that. I am absolutely disgusted by their behavior."

"Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and opinions - I personally don't wear fur but that doesn't mean I am going to force my views on anyone else, ESPECIALLY by violating them," she went on. "We all need to practice what we preach. I will still continue to NOT wear fur, but I will no longer support PETA. Bullying and harassment is NEVER a solution, and I won't be a part of any organization that thinks otherwise."

Khloe's sister, Kim, had a bag of white flour dumped on her head when hitting the red carpet at the London Hotel in West Hollywood for the launch of True Reflection on Thurday, March 22. Hours after the incident, PETA denied their involvement. TMZ, however, uncovered that the flour-bomber is Christina Cho, who has been referred to in the past by the group as a "superstar activist."

Christina was even presented with an award by the organization in 2010 for her work. She also happens to be the sister of Los Angeles-based PETA official, Michelle Cho, who recruited Khloe for the group's "Fur? I'd rather go naked" ad in 2008. According to E! News, neither PETA nor Michelle gave approval to Christina's flour-bomb stunt.
