Movie

Portraying leading lady Melanie Stryder a.k.a Wanderer, Saoirse is seen reflecting her face on a mirror in the first picture from the big screen take on the 'Twilight' author's novel.

AceShowbiz - A first look at Saoirse Ronan in the big screen take on author Stepheni Meyer's "The Host (2013)" has been uncovered in an image that appears in the latest edition of People magazine. A scanned version of the photo has been shared online, giving a look at the blue-eyed actress as Melanie Stryder a.k.a Wanderer.

The close-up image sees Saoirse's face reflecting on a mirror. In addition to Saoirse's first look, there is a photo that unveils how Max Irons will look like as Melanie's love interest Jared. Also shown in the magazine page is Diane Kruger's The Seeker, who intents to hunt down Melanie.

Melanie is one of the last humans putting up a fight against an alien species called Souls. These parasites invade human bodies, fuse to each person's consciousness and systematically erase their personalities. Melanie is caught by the aliens and implanted by a Soul called Wanderer.

Wanderer's goal is to get Melanie to give up the remaining pockets of humans, but instead the alien finds Melanie to be unique in her unwillingness to surrender her consciousness. Overwhelmed by Melanie's memories and feelings, the alien is driven to reconnect with Melanie's old life.

"The Host" will unleash its first ever teaser trailer on Thursday, March 22, while the film itself will open wide in the U.S. on March 29, 2013. Serving as the writer and director is Andrew Niccols, while the "Twilight" author works to co-produce the upcoming film.

Rounding up the cast ensemble are Jake Abel as Ian O'Shea, William Hurt as Jeb Stryder, Boyd Holbrook as Kyle O'Shea, Chandler Canterbury as Jamie Stryder, and Frances Fisher as Maggie Stryder.
