A representative for the 'Jersey Shore' star declines to confirm that he checked into inpatient treatment program for substance abuse, saying that he only needs to rest and recuperate.

AceShowbiz - Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino apparently doesn't want his fans to put their trust on the recent swirling rumors. Shortly after words came out that he has checked into rehab for substance abuse, the original cast member of "Jersey Shore" made use of his Twitter account to tell his followers, "Don't believe everything you read or hear."

A representative for Sorrentino also declined to confirm TMZ's report that the 29-year-old has entered an inpatient treatment program. In a statement to the press, the rep said that Sorrentino "has spent the past several weeks at an undisclosed location for much needed rest and recuperation after his extensive production and appearance schedule."

Since "Jersey Shore" debuted in 2009, Sorrentino has been making paid nightclub appearances. According to TMZ, he makes up to $50,000 for a single appearance at a nightclub. As for the MTV series, Sorrentino and his fellow cast mates are set to begin shooting season 6 this summer. He tweeted earlier, "Getting in amazing shape for season 6!"
