Movie

Being introduced at the 2012 WonderCon, the fresh promo video reveals more thrilling fight scenes between the America's 16th President and the immortal bloodsuckers.

AceShowbiz - Promoting his upcoming mash-up history movie "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter", director Timur Bekmambetov introduced a new trailer for the pic while attending a panel at the 2012 WonderCon on Sunday, March 18. The fresh sneak peek offers more battle scenes between the axe-wielding president and the undead bloodsuckers.

Also attending the panel on Sunday was screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith and lead actor Benjamin Walker. During the Q&A session, Grahame-Smith opened up that the idea of making the movie was partly inspired by the "Twilight" craze in 2009.

At that time, many bookstores that Grahame-Smith visited displayed the bestselling vampire novels side by side with Lincoln's biography. "I thought, rather cynically, if you combine those two, you'd be on to something," so the writer recalled.

The author of "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" went on stating, "I'm not a 'Twilight' hater. I have a lot of respect for Stephenie Meyer... it's good for movies, it's good for literature." He then joked, "That said, our vampires don't sparkle."

The scribe explained that he and Bekmambetov conducted a lot of researches to make the Abe movie as historically accurate as possible, though the storyline is twisted. "This really is a superhero origin story," he added. "He's the CEO of the country, and he saved the country. He's the only true American superhero that I can think of."

In "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter", Abe is not only described as an iconic politician, but also as a man who dedicates his life to destroy the vampires with his trusty axe after his mother was killed by those vampires. The fabled figure continues to hunt the immortal beings all the way through his presidency.

20th Century Fox has scheduled a June 22 U.S. release for the movie, which also stars Anthony Mackie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jimmi Simpson and Rufus Sewell.
