The 'Superman Returns' star admits he finds it hard to keep the happy news a secret, while his wife Courtney Ford claims she would make joke about having a big lunch to avoid suspicion.

AceShowbiz - Brandon Routh is preparing himself for a diaper duty. The leading man of "Superman Returns" and his wife of four years, Courtney Ford, have just announced that they are expecting their first child together. To PEOPLE, the happy couple additionally revealed that their bundle of joy will arrive this summer.
Both Routh and his wife chose to keep the news a secret in the beginning of her pregnancy, but found it difficult to do. The 32-year-old actor, who's working on the CBS pilot "Partners", admitted, "It's been so hard keeping the news to ourselves. Everyone on set keeps asking, 'Do you have kids?' and I've had to say, 'Well ... not yet!' It's the truth. The baby hasn't been born yet!"
Ford had an even bigger problem during the filming of her six-episode arc for "Parenthood". "It started getting difficult to hide what was happening," the 33-year-old actress shared. "Flu and food poisoning excuses only work for so long, and by the last episode I could no longer button my pants! I just tried to joke that I had a big lunch!"
Routh and Ford first met at Lucky Strike in Los Angeles, where he was working as a bartender, at the rehearsal dinner for her brother's wedding. He proposed to her with a sparkler from jeweler Neil Lane in August 2006 while he was in the midst of the "Superman Returns" press tour. They tied the knot at El Capitan Ranch in Santa Barbara on November 24, 2007.
