'I was laying there between takes with that blood pouring out of me staring up at the porch ceiling. It was a little creepy,' says a cast member whose character will meet the end in March 11 episode.

AceShowbiz - The ongoing "Desperate Housewives" trial between Nicollette Sheridan and Marc Cherry has spoiled a major character's death that will be featured this Sunday, March 11. Executive producer George Perkins took the stand on Thursday, March 8, and when asked if there's any other character who has been killed off the series, he said, [SPOILER ALERT!] "Yes. Mike Delfino."

A representative for ABC refused to confirm it and coyly said, "You'll have to tune in this Sunday to find out!" However, James Denton who plays the husband of Teri Hatcher's Susan Mayer has talked about his character's end with Entertainment Weekly during the filming of the dramatic scene.

Saying he was informed about Mike's death by creator Cherry "between Thanksgiving and Christmas last year," Denton revealed he was thrilled about the idea. "The whole time I'm biting the inside of my cheek because I was trying not to crack up because it's fantastic for me," he gushed.

"Any other year, I would have been disappointed, but at this point I figured, well, we made it," the actor reasoned. Still, he has one regret as he shared, "But as soon as he told me, it was a little bit like, 'Oh, it's a bummer because I won't be around for the wrap.' We've got such a great crew. We're all such good friends. That's kind of a drag because there's six or seven episodes left."

Dishing on the filming of his final scene with his on-screen wife Hatcher, Denton said, "I remember laying in the threshold with the blood pouring out of me looking up at the top of the porch... I remember lying there - not to be melodramatic - I was laying there between takes with that blood pouring out of me staring up at the porch ceiling. It was a little creepy."

Asked how Hatcher reacted when she first learned Mike's demise, Denton claimed, "It does suck for Teri. Also, it's going to be hard for her to play any comedy for the last six episodes." He went on recalling, "Her immediate reaction was she got teared up and she said, 'You know what? I realize this is good for you, so I'm okay with it.' "

While Mike's death will be seen in the 16th episode of season 8, the plumber will still appear in the next episode. "In episode 17, I have to go lay in a box and do some flashbacks. We have the funeral and some flashbacks, and that's it," he spilled, adding that his mob and criminal past may be addressed in it. "It's going to be slow motion with scenes from the pilot all the way. I'm hoping some of that will be some of his criminal dark side."

"Desperate Housewives" airs every Sunday at 9/8c on ABC. The show is currently in its eighth and final season.
