'Muppets' Parodies 'Hunger Games' in Latest Promo Video
Movie

In anticipation of its March 20 Blu-ray/DVD release, the puppet film premieres a fake trailer that features a mash-up version of Capitol and a recreation of flaming Mockingjay symbol.

AceShowbiz - "The Hunger Games" became the latest big movie being parodied by none other than "The Muppets". Promoting its Blu-ray/DVD release, the puppet movie released a fake trailer that pokes fun at the potential blockbuster flick.

The promotional video shows a mash-up version of the Capitol, complete with "Tributes" who take a training session before The Hunger Games begins. At one point, there's a tagline that reads "Get Ready to Feel the Hunger", which cuts to a quick shot of literally hungry Miss Piggy grabbing some donuts. The footage ends with a Muppet symbol, which resembles the iconic flaming Mockingjay.

Before spoofing "The Hunger Games", Kermit and co. had poked fun at some other big films to promote their own movie in 2011. Those which became the targets of Muppet gang's parodies included "Green Lantern", "The Twilight Saga's Breaking Dawn Part I" and "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)".

"The Muppets" was released in the U.S. theaters on November 23. As of January 2012, the comedy grossed $87.1 million in North America and $102.1 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing "Muppets" film ever. Its Blu-ray/DVD will hit the stores on March 20, just three days before "The Hunger Games" March 23 release.

Following the great success of the first film, "The Muppets Sequel" is currently underway. However, Jason Segel has confirmed that he won't return to reprise his human lead role or to provide the script for the follow-up project.
