John Landis' classic comedy movie 'National Lampoon's Animal House' is set to be retooled as a musical play with Canadian band Barenaked Ladies composing the original score.

AceShowbiz - Another hit classic film is about to be adapted to a Broadway play. Universal Pictures Stage Productions announced on Monday, March 5 that it is currently working to bring John Landis' famous gross-out comedy pic "National Lampoon's Animal House" to the musical stage.
Serving as the director and choreographer for the musical is Tony winner Casey Nicholaw with Canadian band Barenaked Ladies composing the original score. Playwright Michael Mitnick will adapt the story based on the script by Harold Ramis, Douglas Kenney and Chris Miller. No actors have been tapped to star in the play.
Landis' "Animal House" was released in 1978 to mixed reviews from critics. The film was set in 1962 and revolved around campus Faber College, which has one troublesome frat house called Delta House and one squeaky-clean house called Omega. The latter house consists of white, anglo-saxon, rich young men who are so sanctimonious no one could stand them except Dean Wormer.
Wormer then enlists the help of the Omega boys to get the boys of Delta House off the campus due to repeated conduct violations and low academic standings. The dean's plan, however, comes into play just before the homecoming parade to end all parades for all time.
The original movie starred John Belushi, Tim Matheson, Stephen Furst, Peter Riegert and Karen Allen among others. Despite the fact that the film cost a mere $2.7 million to produce, it had successfully grossed $141.6 million domestically.
