Criticizing Relativity Media's marketing campaign for his upcoming directorial film, Singh complains, 'The movie looks fantastic and the trailers look so hammily off.'

AceShowbiz - While some people sang praises to "Mirror Mirror" trailers for featuring playful scenes and beautiful costumes, director Tarsem Singh confessed that he's "really angry" of those marketing campaigns. The "Immortals" helmer opened up that he's not a fan of how the movie has so far been promoted by Relativity Media.

Speaking to Digital Spy, the Indian filmmaker claimed, "I'm really angry at the trailers." He added, "I'm a director, I guess, so I always get pissed at them! The movie looks fantastic and the trailers look so hammily off. The posters are okay, they're still neutral, but we're trying to get the film out there so people don't judge it by the trailer."

Asked about how far he was involved in the making of those promotional videos, the 50-year-old director said, "I backed away from it a bit." He explained, "I fought that fight on 'Immortals' and I found that I was taking my eye off the movie. I said I'll fight for the movie, but marketing can fight for how you want to sell it."

Of why he decided to unleash "Mirror Mirror" out of summer blockbuster lineup in time of the release date of rival film "Snow White and the Huntsman", Singh said, "That was the only way we could go." He continued, "They could probably afford to go second, we couldn't afford it, they're close to double our budget."

Unlike Rupert Sanders' dark twist of Snow White tale, "Mirror Mirror" will eschew the traditional story in favor of a more modern tale full of comedy and adventure. After her evil stepmother kills her father and destroys the kingdom, Snow White bands together with a gang of seven quarrelsome dwarves to reclaim what is rightly hers.

Being scheduled to arrive in theaters across the U.S. on March 30, the Snow White movie stars Lily Collins as the fair skinned princess, Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen, Armie Hammer as Prince Andrew Alcott, Nathan Lane as Brighton, and Sean Bean as The King.
