Evan Peters, Lily Rabe and Sarah Paulson will join Jessica Lange and Zachary Quinto in season 2 of the FX horror series, Ryan Murphy confirms.

AceShowbiz - More updates from "American Horror Story" season 2 have been shared by Ryan Murphy at the PaleyFest in Beverly Hills on Friday, March 2. The creator of the FX hit series announced that Evan Peters, Lily Rabe and Sarah Paulson will join Jessica Lange and Zachary Quinto as original cast members who will return to the upcoming season of the show.

Affirming his previous statements that the returning actors will be seen as new characters, Murphy said, "Everybody will be playing the opposite of what they played." Refusing to share more details on the new character, he stated, "We're writing it and we don't want to talk about it too much."

Asked about the possibility of Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott, whose characters were also dead at the end of the first season, returning to the second season, Murphy coyly said, "Anyone can pop up at anytime...the Harmons were exhausted, let's give them at least one season off."

Still on the same occasion, Murphy teased that they will someday answer the mystery about Constance's fourth child. "We have not lost sight of the fourth child. And with a show like this it could be season four, I don't know," he told the crowd. "We will eventually deal with that, even though Jessica's not playing Constance."

In season 1, Peters played Tate Langdon whose mother was portrayed by Lange. Rabe portrayed the doctor's wife Nora Montgomery, while Paulson was cast as the medium Billie Dean Howard. Quinto, meanwhile, was recurring as Chad Warwick, a deceased former owner of the Murder House.

The new season will be set at an East Coast institution and center on Lange's character. Quinto is reported to take one of two male leads, who is also the nemesis to Lange's alter ego.
