AceShowbiz - Jack Nicholson has come close to falling victim to identity theft. A Brazilian man got himself arrested in the northeast city of Recife on Tuesday, February 28 after he used a fake ID that bears a photo of the "Something's Gotta Give" star when trying to open a bank account, according to a report by CNN.

The impostor has been identified as Ricardo Sergio Freire de Barros, and while he used Nicholson's photo on his forged identification card, the 41-year-old reportedly signed the ID as Joao Pedro dos Santos. Prior to his Tuesday arrest, he had been monitored by the police for three months, police chief Erivaldo Guerra said.

Police further said that Barros, who had been accused of fraudulent activity, had been using false identifications to open several bank accounts and high-limit credit cards, and failing to pay the debts. At the time of his arrest, the fraudsters allegedly had six different IDs in addition to a number of checkbooks and credit cards in his possession.

Barros is currently being held in jail while awaiting trial. He has been charged with using false documents and falsification of a public document.
