'21 Jump Street' Sequel Is Underway With Script Being Written
Movie

Lead actor Jonah Hill confirms that the yet-to-be-released comedy movie will have a follow-up since Columbia Pictures has given a greenlight and the screenplay is already in the works.

AceShowbiz - "21 Jump Street" wouldn't arrive in the U.S. theaters until March 16, but already its sequel is in the works. Jonah Hill, who plays Schmidt in the action comedy, revealed that Columbia Pictures is currently working on the follow-up film and that the script is being written.

"We are writing the sequel now," Hill confirmed to E! News when attending the 2012 Academy Awards last Sunday, February 26. "We got [the greenlight] by the studio to start writing the sequel."

The Oscar nominee for Best Supporting Actor promised that the sequel will be as hilarious as the first one. "It's punk rock. It's total mayhem," he said. "It's two young-looking cops going to back to high school and they party with high school kids and go crazy."

Hill went on sharing that "21 Jump Street" is the funniest film he has ever starred in. He gushed, "I'd say it's the funniest movie I've ever been in, that and 'Superbad'. It's like a two-hour or hour-and-a-half party."

An adaptation of Johnny Depp's 1980s hit TV series, "21 Jump Street" follows Schmidt and Jenko (Channing Tatum) who are more than ready to leave their adolescent problems behind. Joining the police force and the secret Jump Street unit, they use their youthful appearances to go undercover in a local high school to chase a drug ring.

To promote the comedy movie, Columbia has revealed two fresh clips. One of the snippets, which is titled "You Guys Are Perfect", shows how Schmidt and Jenko are first tasked to join a secret "21 Jump Street" program. The other one, which is called "Chase Someone", sees a hilarious scene where the duo get over excited after they chase down a hooligan in a park. Schmidt is seen thoughtlessly shooting his gun into the air which makes people panicked.
