Joe Odom, whose Dallas Mavericks forward son is taking a break from basketball to tend to him, refuses to elaborate on his reported health scare, but does assure he's getting some rest.

AceShowbiz - After words came out that Lamar Odom is taking a break from basketball to tend to his "gravely ill" father, Joe Odom opened up about his situation. In an interview with Radar Online, the father-in-law of Khloe Kardashian assured that he is doing good, but claimed that he's depressed because of the illness.

"I'm doing good. I'm stressed out and distressed," said Joe, whose battle with heroin addiction was mentioned on Lamar's reality show, "Khloe & Lamar". He added, "I'm doing a lot better. But I'm depressed right now. I'm getting some rest." However, he refused to elaborate further on his illness. He simply said, "It is a problem that I had."

Lamar himself has missed out on the Mavericks game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, February 22 night. Before the match, coach Rick Carlisle informed the media that the NBA player "has been excused to tend to a family matter." The coach added, "He will rejoin us after the [All-Star] break."

On how Lamar and his wife Khloe took news of Joe's health scare, a source told Radar that the couple "were really upset about the news about Joe." The source further noted, "They're putting their schedules on hold right now to be there for him."
