AceShowbiz - Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson could end up showing off his muscles as a super strong Greek hero in an upcoming epic movie directed by "Tower Heist" helmer Brett Ratner. According to Variety, the professional wrestler-turned-actor is in negotiations to star in MGM's "Hercules", tackling the part of the titular demigod.

Screenwriter Ryan Condol has been attached to pen the script. Meanwhile, MGM's Roger Birnbaum, Gary Barber and Jonathan Glickman are all on board as the producers along with Peter Berg, Sarah Aubrey and Barry Levine.

Though plot details of the film are still kept under wraps, it is said that the story will be based on Steve Moore's graphic novel "Hercules: The Thracian War". The book follows the son of Zeus and his crew of mercenaries as they are hired by the King of Thrace to prepare his men of war.

As for Johnson, the 39-year-old actor was most recently seen in "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island". He will next be seen starring as Roadblock in "G.I. Joe: Retaliation". His other next film is Michael Bay's passion project about body building called "Pain and Gain".
