The-Dream believes that Riri knew what kind of reaction she would get if she collaborated with Breezy and she has prepared for it.

AceShowbiz - How did Rihanna and Chris Brown collaboration, which sparked controversy, come about? According to "Birthday Cake" co-producer The-Dream, it was the "We Found Love" hitmaker who suggested to contact Breezy and add his verses to her song remix.

"I think I'm gonna put Chris on it," the former husband of Christina Milian recalled Riri nonchalantly telling him over the phone about her idea. He responded back then, "I don't know which Chris you talkin' about, [but] OK, cool, whatever you say."

Dream was adamant Riri was aware that she might receive backlash if she moved forward with her idea, but he believed she has thought it through. "The same questions that went through my mind, and I'm an artist also, had to have gone through hers," he said.

Calling the Barbados singer "pretty smart," Dream continued, "When she raised the question to me, I know she's not crazy. So my thought was you've been thinking about this, you've already thought it out, so evidently you know what reaction you gonna get."

Amidst the loud protests coming from some of Riri's fans, Dream warned, "Don't say you know how to forgive when you don't." He added, "Everybody knows what took place, cool. Have the power to really forgive if that's what it is, if not stay on that side of the fence from the beginning."

Regardless of what people said about Riri, Dream said he would always support her. "At the end of the day, she's my friend, so whatever she wants to do is whatever she wants to do," he stated. Of Breezy, he said, "It's easy to kinda throw Chris under the bus all the time, but c'mon, man. OK, we get it."
