P. Diddy, Magic Johnson and Robert Rodriguez to Launch Cable Channels Through Comcast

Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs' network Revolt, which is set to launch in 2013, is designed to have programming inspired by music and pop culture.

AceShowbiz - Comcast Corporation has officially announced that it will carry new channels from Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, Magic Johnson, Robert Rodriguez and Constantino "Said" Schwarz. The four minority-owned networks are part of the company's commitment to win approval of its acquisition of NBC Universal last year.

Diddy teams up with MTV veteran Andy Schuon to bring Revolt, which is designed to have programming inspired by music and pop culture. The Grammy-winning rapper said that it is "the first channel created entirely from the ground up in this new era of social media." The network will launch in 2013.

Johnson's Aspire is dedicated to delivering enlightening, entertaining and positive programming to African-Americans families. The former NBA star added of the network that is scheduled to launch this summer, "Aspire will celebrate our heritage, our groundbreaking achievements and the fearless talent that has shaped American culture."

El Rey, which comes from director Rodriguez and FactoryMade Ventures executives John Fogelman and Cristina Patwa, is designed to be an action-packed, general entertainment network in English for Latino and general audiences. The network will include programming that features Hispanic producers, celebrities and public figures, and is scheduled to launch in January 2014.

As for BabyFirst Americas which is proposed by Spanish language television veteran Schwarz, it emphasizes "the importance of quality education for young children." The CEO and Chairman of the network, which will launch in April 2012, additionally stated, "BabyFirst Americas aims to bring the essential academic building blocks for Kindergarten readiness into the home, making it accessible for families all across the U.S."

In addition to the new networks, Comcast Corp. also announces an online video service called Xfinity Streampix, which offers a library of TV shows and movies. The new service will be available free with Comcast's top video packages and for an extra $4.99 a month in lower tiers, starting Thursday, February 23.
