Along with screenwriter Ronan Bennett, the 'Shame' actor is preparing an epic movie about a legendary Old Irish hero who becomes famous for his semi-divine ancestry and superhuman fighting skills.

AceShowbiz - After starring in multiple acclaimed movies like "X-Men: First Class", "A Dangerous Method" and "Shame", Michael Fassbender is getting ready to tackle another lead role in a new potential big movie. The 34-year-old actor is currently preparing an epic movie based on Old Irish legends called "Irish Myths".
Variety reported that Fassbender has teamed up with "Public Enemies" screenwriter Ronan Bennett to develop a feature film about legendary Celtic warrior Cuchulain. The German actor is expected to star as the lead hero, who is the central character in the Ulster Myth Cycle epic series.
The story is set in the northern Ireland and is related to the Ulaid tribe led by King Conchobar, who is conflicting with its rival Conncahta tribe led by Queen Mebh. Cuchulain is the most fearsome hero during the era since he has semi-divine ancestry and superhuman fighting skills. In the most famous story, known as the Cattle Raid of Cooley, he is the only man capable of resisting the vast army sent by Mebh to steal Conchobar's prize white bull.
Fassbender and Bennett are also set to produce the movie through their London-based production company, Finn McCool Films. Though so, the project still hasn't found a right director to serve as the helmer.
In addition to "Irish Myths", Fassbender, who has recently starred opposite Gina Carano and Channing Tatum in "Haywire", will next be seen starring in Ridley Scott's "Prometheus". In the space thriller, he will join a cast ensemble that includes the likes of Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace, Ben Foster, Idris Elba and Logan Marshall-Green.
