AceShowbiz - The Beach Boys are quick to follow up the announcement of their headlining bill at upcoming Bonnaroo music festival by announcing a number of dates for their upcoming tour. In celebration of their 50th anniversary, the newly-reunited band are going to open the roadshow on April 24 in Tucson, AZ.
Coming back as a five-piece group, Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston and David Marks will travel across North America including having a two-night stand at New York's Beacon Theater on May 8 and 9. The Boys will wrap up the trek in mid-July in Stateline, NV.
"I'm really looking forward to celebrating this important milestone in the Beach Boys' history with the other guys," Marks once said of their reunion. Wilson chimed in, "This anniversary is special to me because I miss the boys, and it will be a thrill for me to make a new record and be on stage with them again."
Love and his bandmates did a warm-up gig at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, marking their first ever performance in more than two decades. They performed one of their hit singles "Good Vibrations", and were joined onstage by Foster the People and Maroon 5's Adam Levine.
Talking about the band's setlist for the forthcoming tour, Jerdine gushed that since it's been a long time, "the fans are going to want to hear the hits." He, however, quickly added that in addition to old materials, "there should also be lesser-known ones that are so important."
The band are currently in studio to work on their new album, which is set to come out sometime this year. They have re-recorded their 1968 classic "Do It Again" for the effort. "It sounded so good we just decided to continue," Jerdine stated. "There are some new things that Brian has come up with that are really remarkable."
