February 16, 2012, 2:26 am GMT

Dave Matthews and his bandmates work with producer Steve Lillywhite for the new album, and will kick off their summer tour in mid-May.

Three years after "Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King", Dave Matthews Band finally confirm that they are back in the studio for a brand new album. They reunite with Steve Lillywhite, who produced their first three studio albums, "Under the Table and Dreaming", "Crash" and "Before These Crowded Streets".

The new album announcement is made just a day after they announce a bunch of dates for their 2012 North American summer tour. Dave Matthews and his bandmates are set to start the trek on May 18 in Woodlands, Texas, and will hold two-night stands in some of the tour stops including in Hartford, Mansfield, Saratoga Springs, Camden and West Palm Beach.

The band are also going to continue their Labor Day weekend tradition by kicking off a West Coast run with three-night concert (August 31 - September 2) at The Gorge Amphitheatre. The band have headlined 40 shows at the venue since 1997. They will finally conclude the roadshow on September 9 in Mountain View, Washington.

According to Billboard Boxscore, the Dave Matthews band sold more tickets than any music act in the first decade of this century. They reportedly sold more than 11.2 million tickets during their tour in the years of 2000 to 2009. From their last traveling show in 2010 itself, they grossed $61.2 million and sold more than 1 million ticket.

Online presale of the upcoming tour's tickers for Members of the DMB Warehouse Fan Association will begin Thursday, February 16 on its official website. Meanwhile, general public will be able to purchase the tickets starting Friday, March 9.
