AceShowbiz - Paul McCartney has finally joined the other members of The Beatles on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The 69-year-old singer/songwriter was presented with his star on the world's most famous sidewalk Thursday, February 9 in a ceremony taking place outside the Capitol Records building on Vine Street.

Rocker Neil Young was on hand to introduce McCartney at the unveiling ceremony. Clad in black leather Buffalo Springfield tour jacket, he recalled, "When I was in high school and the Beatles came out, I loved the Beatles and I tried to learn how to play like them, and no one could figure out what Paul was doing on the bass."

Admitting he's "so proud to be doing this", Young continued on, "As a musician, as a songwriter, Paul's craft and his art are truly at the top of his game, the way Charlie Chaplin was an actor. He has an ability to put melodies and feelings and chords together, but it's the soul that he puts into everything he does that makes me feel so good and so happy to be here."

When McCartney took over the podium, he looked back to his younger years. "Way back in history, in Liverpool when we were kids and we were listening to Buddy Holly and all the rock 'n' roll greats, I would have never thought..," he said, "the day would come when I'd be getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame."

"That was like an impossible thing to happen. But here we are today, and it's happening," he stated before paying tribute to former bandmates, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. "But I couldn't have done it without, certainly, three boys - so I want to say thanks to those guys, John, George and Ringo."

McCartney is the last Beatle to be honored with his individual star. Both Lennon and Harrison received their stars several years after their deaths in 1980 and 2001 respectively. Meanwhile, Starr, who was not able to attend McCartney's ceremony because he was "a little under the weather", got his star in 2010.

Among those present to watch McCartney unveil his star included Elvis Costello, Diana Krall and Herbie Hancock as well as Eagles' guitarist Joe Walsh. During the ceremony, the "Yesterday" hitmaker was also joined by wife Nancy Shevell and son James.
