Words are, the 'Born Free' singer has signed a deal mentioning she agrees to pay any money which might be imposed on NBC should FCC fine the network for her middle finger salute.

AceShowbiz - M.I.A. might end up paying a fine after flipping the bird during Super Bowl halftime performance. Sources tell TMZ that NBC and NFL, learning from Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction on CBS, have indemnified themselves against such penalty.

According to the sources, the "XXXO" songstress has signed a contract with the NFL for the halftime performance, stating that she agreed to pay any fines which might be imposed on NBC by FCC. In this way, the football association allegedly wants to send a message to performers not to cross the line.

FCC itself has not released any statement regarding any actions it will take on M.I.A.'s bird flip.

Meanwhile, the Parents Television Council has blasted NBC for the incident. "It is unfortunate that a spectacular sporting event was overshadowed once again by broadcasting the selfish acts of a desperate performer," so the TV watchdog group stated.

PTC also blamed the network and NFL for choosing "performers who have based their careers on shock profanity and titillation" to cater the audience during the halftime show.

M.I.A. made the middle finger salute while performing with Madonna and singing her part in "Give Me All Your Luvin' ". The Peacock has since offered an apology, explaining, "It was a spontaneous gesture that our delay system caught late."
