Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans and director Marc Webb join the special screening events in New York, Rio de Janeiro, London and Los Angeles respectively.

AceShowbiz - Spider-Man fanboys have received a special treat on Monday, February 6 as Sony Pictures held an international screening of a brand new sneak peek at "The Amazing Spider-Man". The event took place in 13 cities around the world, including Los Angeles, New York, London, Rio de Janeiro, Paris, Berlin, Mexico City, Moscow, Seoul and Rome.
Director Marc Webb attended the Los Angeles screening, while Emma Stone as well as producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach joined the Rio de Janeiro crowd. Lead actor Andrew Garfield and the villain depicter Rhys Ifans, meanwhile, showed up in New York and London respectively.
The event kicked off with the release of the 3D trailer, which will make its way out onto the web on Wednesday, February 8, and a sizzle reel. It sees the classic scenes of Peter Parker as a high school geek who is bullied at school, before he suddenly gets super power after being bitten by a spider. It also shows the lead hero battling his archenemy The Lizard high above New York skyscrapers.
The two footage apparently show not only the iconic web-slinging actions from Spidey, but also his intimate and personal relationships with people around him that were really exposed in Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man" movies. Webb's version offers more look at Parker's bond as a lonely orphan with Gwen Stacy and her father George, with his aunt and uncle, and even with his nemesis Dr. Connor.
In between the screening of the two videos, Webb explained that he wanted to explore Parker's untold story as an orphan. "I wanted to treat Peter Parker in a more naturalistic way," he said. "I think there are a lot of things from Spider-Man canon that haven't been explored cinematically."
"This movie really starts off with Peter Parker and his parents, which is something we've never really seen before," Webb continued on. "And I think that was something we were all really interested in exploring as filmmakers."
In New York, meanwhile, Andrew Garfield gushed about why he wanted so bad to play Spidey, who was previously made famous by Tobey Maguire. He jokingly said, " 'Cause I'm not an idiot. It's a thing that everyone in this room wants." He then said that the superhero character "belongs to everyone in this room. It doesn't belong to me. I really mean it."
"The more of these events I go to the more I realize...it's overwhelming to be representig this symbol," he added while pointing to the screen. " 'Cause that's all I am. I'm the guy in the suit. It could be anyone in the suit. It happen to be me this time, before it was Tobey and next time hopefully it will be a half Hispanic-half African American actor."
Meanwhile, Emma Stone discussed Gwen Stacy from Rio de Janeiro. The actress compared her character to Mary Jane, which was played by Kirsten Dunst in Raimi's movies. She explained that the two ladies are "polar opposites" before adding that "Gwen is the yin to Mary Jane's yang. Gwen is falling in love with Peter Parker and Mary Jane falls in love with Spider-Man, which I think is different."
"The Amazing Spider-Man" is set to arrive in the U.S. theaters on July 3.
