Roseanne Barr Files Paperwork to Run for U.S. President as Green Party Candidate

'I will barnstorm American living rooms, Mainstream media will be unable to ignore me,' states the former 'Roseanne's Nuts' star in a candidate questionnaire submitted to the Green Party.

AceShowbiz - Roseanne Barr has taken a step forward in her plan to run for president of the United States. The actress/comedienne announced on Thursday, February 2 that she has filed the necessary paperwork to be the Green Party's candidate in the 2012 election, writing on Twitter, "I am running for Green Party nominee for POTUS."

In the same tweet, the 59-year-old told her followers, "I am an official candidate. I am4 the Greening of America&the world. Green=peace/justice." Having shared tenets of her platform through other tweets, she acknowledged in one that "it will be a tough fight," but is quick to note her optimism,"We (the greens) only have a 99|percent| chance to win this election."

Being a vocal supporter of the Occupy Wall Street movement, the former "Roseanne's Nuts" star later said in a statement, "The Democrats and Republicans have proven that they are servants - bought and paid for by the 1 percent - who are not doing what's in the best interest of the American people."

In a candidate questionnaire submitted to the Green Party, she declared, "I will barnstorm American living rooms. Mainstream media will be unable to ignore me, but more importantly they will be unable to overlook the needs of average Americans in the run-up to the 2012 election."

On Barr's candidacy, Green Party national coordinator Scott McLarty told E! News, "We welcome Roseanne Barr into the race, and she will make it very interesting from what I have seen. Ms. Barr wants to say some very serious things in her campaign, and from what I can tell, she is motivated by her own experiences and her desire to see the United States become a much better country."

The Green Party's presidential nominee will be selected at a convention in Baltimore in July.
