The actress will experience for the first time becoming an executive producer of a television series in the adaptation of 1978 book, 'Scruples'.

AceShowbiz - Oscar winner Natalie Portman is trying her hand at executive producing a TV show. ABC has green-lit a new pilot titled "Scruples" which is based on the 1978 book written by Judith Krantz. The actress will co-produce the series with the author's son, Tony Krantz.

The plot centers around Wilhelmina Hunnewell Winthrop aka Billy, a rich and powerful clothing designer in a world full of sex, revenge and scandal. After the death of her husband, the socialite tries to open a fashionable boutique in the heart of Beverly Hills. "Scruples" refers to the store's name.

Back in 1980, the book was adapted into a miniseries starring Lindsay Wagner and Barry Bostwick. Warner Bros. which produced the miniseries still holds the copyright of the story, therefore will be producing the new version. The script for the new pilot has been re-written by Bob Brush and Mel Harris.

Although she has had executive producer roles in feature movies, this would be Portman's first foray in TV series. It is yet clear whether she would star in it too.
