Revealing how he interprets the Caped Crusader's character in the highly anticipated superhero movie, Bale gushes, 'For me he is an anarchist and a free spirit.'

AceShowbiz - Christian Bale recently discussed how he interpreted Batman in the much awaited "The Dark Knight Rises". Instead of branding the Caped Crusader as a heroic figure, the actor, who has his 38th birthday this Monday, January 30, thought that the comic hero is rather "anarchist."

Speaking to Style Magazine, the Oscar winner opened up, "For me he [Batman] is an anarchist and a free spirit." He continued, "He knows that there are parallels between him and his enemies because life is never stable - you always have to fight for it. Keeping in mind that it may never be boring and that nobody is obliging you to behave like a superhero and to always have your muscles flexed and bulging."

During the chat, Bale also recalled his close bond with the late Heath Ledger, who tackled the iconic role of the Joker in 2008's "The Dark Knight". He said that their friendship is "an exchange, never rivalry, and I like people who have obsessions, passions, people who do not always want to be in the limelight."

"Heath really was a lovely person, he loved his daughter dearly and he spent his life seeking answers," Bale continued on. "He was nothing to do with the commotion that broke out after his death. Nobody ever really is a cartoon superhero, even although superheroes are all the rage today."

Bale will reprise his role as Batman for the third time after "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight". Back in November, Bale revealed that the superhero might show more of his vulnerable side in "The Dark Knight Rises".

"How long will you let the pain and loss define your life? Walking around chasing bad guys is very heroic and attracts attention, but at the end it all accounts for, as a means to deal with the pain of a huge loss," he said of Bruce Wayne a.k.a Batman in "The Dark Knight Rises" when attending the press junket of his other film, "The Flowers of War".

In the final installment of the Batman trilogy from director Chris Nolan, terrorist leader Bane arrives in Gotham City, pushing it and its police force to their limits, as well as forcing the Caped Crusader to resurface after taking the fall for Havey Dent's crimes eight years prior.

"The Dark Knight Rises" will open wide in the U.S. on July 20. Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are also supporting the much awaited comic book movie.
