The 'Real Steel' actress opens up that her character in 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' is actually 'the head of the Elven guard' who is also a lethal and deadly warrior.

AceShowbiz - Evangeline Lilly has finally opened up about her role as Tauriel in "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey". Sharing details about the character, the former "Lost" actress revealed in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, that Tauriel is "the head of the Elven guard."
"Yes, she is a warrior. She's actually the head of the Elven guard. She's the big shot in the army," said the Canadian actress. "So she knows how to wield any weapon, but the primary weapons that she uses are a bow and arrow and two daggers. And she's lethal and deadly. You definitely wouldn't want to be caught in a dark alley next to Tauriel."
Lilly, however, noted that her character doesn't have too many roles in the first movie. She added that Tauriel will have more parts in "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" as explaining, "She's not in the first film very much. She comes into the first film near the end, and has a very small part to play. Her role in the second film is much more involved."
"Although, I have to say, when I first read the scripts and took the job, she had a lot less going on in the second film. I think the role is becoming a bit more demanding than I had expected it to be," the actress continued. "There's a lot more for me to do now, which is a lot of fun, but it's a little more pressure."
Asked if Tauriel will have a large part in the Battle of Five Armies, Lilly coyly answered, "Oh, I don't know. We haven't shot that yet. I still have to go back for five more months of filming."
"The Hobbit" follows the adventure of Bilbo Baggins as he is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, he finds himself joining a company of dwarves led by Thorin Oakensheild in the epic journey.
Martin Freeman tackles the part of Bilbo, while Richard Armitage plays warrior Thorin. Also supporting the highly anticipated film are Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Christopher Lee, and Luke Evans.
Directed by Peter Jackson, the first movie is due to open in the U.S. theaters on December 14, 2012. Its follow-up "The Hobbit: There and Back Again", meanwhile, will be released nationwide on December 13, 2013.
