It has been confirmed that Relativity Media and The Weinstein Company have settled the lawsuit problem over the remake film while making sure that the project will move forward as planned.

AceShowbiz - After a long time in gestation, it is now confirmed that "The Crow" reboot is back on the saddle. The film project is set to move forward as Relativity Media announced on Monday, January 23 that it has settled the lawsuit problem with The Weinstein Company over the distribution rights of the remake movie.

The company stated that the production of the movie will continue to work as planned previously. "The lawsuit between Relativity Media and The Weinstein Company concerning 'The Crow' has been amicably settled out of court, and the parties will continue to work on the film together as planned," it is said in the announcement.

"In addition, Relativity Media has dismissed all of its claims against The Weinstein Company for any wrongdoing regarding the release and distribution of 'Nine', and The Weinstein Company has dismissed all of its claims against Relativity Media," the press release additionally stated.

Back in April 2011, a distribution-rights war erupted between Bert Fields who represented The Weinstein Co. and Ryan Kavanaugh from Relativity Media. Fields claimed in a lawsuit that there was a "written contract signed by everybody" which gives the distribution rights to Weinsteins.

On the other hand, Relativity said in a statement, "This is yet another typical litigation stunt from the Weinsteins who have a long history of threatening law suits with the sole purpose of intimidation. If served, Relativity will seek immediate dismissal."

The film project was initially planned to be helmed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo with Bradley Cooper being tapped to play Eric Draven, who was made famous by late actor Brandon Lee. Unfortunately both Fresnadillo and Cooper exited the project nine months since the lawsuit was filed.

Back in December, Cooper explained to Empire magazine about his departure from "The Crow" reboot. He said, "There weren't even that many ups and downs. We were talking about doing it because of Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, I'm such a massive fan, and then the timing didn't work out. He just dropped out of it also so I don't know what they're going to do."

Based on a comic book series by James O'Barr, "The Crow" follows Draven, a musician who is brutally killed when he's trying to rescue his fiancee Shelly from street thugs. Brought back to life by supernatural forces, he becomes an avenger in his quest for revenge.
