2012 NAACP Image Awards Nominations in TV: 'Grey's Anatomy' and 'The Game' Top List With 6

Network wise, ABC dominates the list in television field with 18, thanks to the multiple nominations that 'Grey's' and 'Modern Family' receive.



The NAACP has announced the nominees for its 43rd annual Image Awards on Thursday, January 19 at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, revealing the domination of "Grey's Anatomy" and "The Game" in TV field. The two shows are tied on top with six mentions each.

"Grey's" is nominated for Outstanding Drama Series, battling it out with "Boardwalk Empire", "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit", "The Good Wife" and "Treme". The medical drama series gets two additional noms from Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series category for Chandra Wilson and Sandra Oh's performances.

"Game", meanwhile, is fighting off "Modern Family", "Love That Girl!", "Reed Between the Lines" and "Tyler Perry's House of Payne" for Outstanding Comedy Series award. The BET series also puts two of its female stars, Tia Mowry and Wendy Raquel Robinson, in contention for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series title.

Network wise, ABC tops the list of TV nominations with 18 in total, thanks to "Grey's" and "Modern Family". CBS trails behind with 16 nominations which come from "Good Wife" and mostly its daytime shows such as "The Bold and the Beautiful" and "The Young and the Restless".

The 2012 NAACP Image Awards will be presented during a ceremony set to take place Friday, February 17. The two-hour show, which also honors outstanding people of color for their work in film, music and literature, will air live on NBC starting at 8 P.M. ET.
