'The Artist' and 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy' Among 2012 BAFTA Awards Nominees

Both the French silent drama and the war veteran thriller are set to compete in the coveted Best Film category against 'The Descendants', 'Drive' and 'The Help'.

The nominations for the 2012 British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards have been announced. "" leads the pack by grabbing 12 nominations in total. They include Best Film, Best Original Screenplay, Best Director as well as Best Actor and Actress.

Trailing closely behind the critically acclaimed French silent drama is "", which receives 11 noms in total. The thriller movie is also set to compete against "The Artist", "" and "" in the Best Film category. Additionally, it is also nominated for Outstanding British Film, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay among others.

Other movies which are nominated in multiple categories include "" which collects 9 noms, "" which picks up six noms, as well as "" and "" which nab five noms each.

"" and documentary film "Senna" are among those which surprisingly bag multiple nominations. Each of them receive 3 noms including the Outstanding British Film category. "", meanwhile, collects 2 nominations, including Best Supporting Actress and Best Original Screenplay.

The nominations were announced by , and BAFTA chairman Tim Corrie. Winners of the 2012 BAFTA Awards will be revealed at the ceremony held on Sunday, February 12 at the Royal Opera House in London. will host the show, which will be broadcast live on BBC One.
